Barn Kittens

The spring farm kittens are here! Now is the time for what my sister Marla calls “fuzz therapy.” All your troubles melt away when you have kittens purring in your arms.
The cat population is pretty difficult to control on a farm. Non-spayed cats are often dropped off (sometimes already pregnant) and frightened feral cats seem to come out of nowhere to make the farm their home. Even if we somehow managed to catch these wild cats we wouldn’t have the money to spay all of them. So for now all I can do is try to catch the babies and tame them. Then they can eat and play freely around the farm.. and when they need medical assistance they will be tame enough to treat. They may even be adopted at the Farm Market or by friends unless we grow too attached to let go of them.
This spring we have 4 litters.. 2 from sweet dropped off mothers and 2 from grumpy wild barn cats. I’ve brought 8 of them to stay at my apartment in order to prepare them for adoption… and all are ready except the 3 that were from wild litters. These 3 guys are almost all tame now but are still recovering from eye colds. They’ve come a long way though (note the picture of my bloody hands.) These little dudes did quite the number on me when i stole them from their mother. Now theyre super cuddly.

The short haired calico (pictured below) is one of the newly tamed. The rest are ready to go! .. Except Gilly my ferret. He got in line to have his picture taken too so i figured what the heck.

*update: the short haired calico with white paws and the orange kitty with white paws are adopted.

*update: A fuzzy brown kitty and a fuzzy grey kitty are now ready to go! (no pics of them yet)

Renegade Craft Show in Brooklyn

I just finished up my first big craft show at the Renegade Craft Show in Brooklyn. Thank you Renegade for putting on a beautiful event! I’ll be sure to post some of the items i bought from fellow crafters while I was there.

Here is my tent. My displays are still a little rough but for my first show.. I would say it went really well! Finally I found a use for all the old frames, blankets and jewelry boxes I’d been collecting from flee markets and thrift stores! Of course my camera broke in my suit case so these phone pics are the best I’ve got.

Thank you friends and family who helped me pull things together just in time for the show. We got a little carried away decorating shopping bags. I guess I was trying to justifly having bought so many fun rubber stamps over the years.. and never using them till now.
